Evangelia Kalligiannaki, Ph.D., is a collaborating researcher at the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics, FORTH. She is currently the P.I. of the SISDECS project “SISDECS” funded by the 1st H.F.R.I. call for post-doctoral researchers. Evangelia obtained her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Crete (2007). Since then, she joined JICS / Oak Ridge National Lab & University of Delaware and the University of Southern California, USA, as a postdoctoral researcher. From 2016-2018 she held a researcher position at the Stochastic Numerics research group at KAUST, Saudi Arabia.
Her research lies in the interface of Applied and Computational Mathematics, Stochastic modeling and Uncertainty Quantification. She has contributed through modeling and computational methods in model reduction for high-dimensional multi-physics systems at multiple space and time scales, probabilistic forecasting in renewable energy, and high-frequency wave propagation.
Dr. Stelios Alexandris is a Stavros Niarchos Research Fellow at FORTH/IESL. He received his PhD in 2017 in polymer physics at the University of Ioannina. From 2018, he is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at IESL-FORTH. His research focuses on the study of dynamics, structure and phase transitions of polymers and liquid crystals both in bulk and under confinement.
Dr. Areti Mourka is currently a Post-Doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser/Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (I.E.S.L./FO.R.T.H.). She is a PhD graduate from the Department of Physics of the University of St. Andrews in UK (2013) (the oldest of the four ancient universities of Scotland and 3rd oldest university in the English-speaking world – consistently ranked as the 3rd best university in the UK in all national league tables behind Oxbridge) and she gained both her Bachelors (2007) and M.Sc. degrees (2009) with distinction from the Department of Physics of the University of Crete in Greece; where she undertook multiple projects in Laser Interaction and Division research area with a particular emphasis on Laser Beam Shaping, Nanotechnology, Laser Materials Processing, Materials Science and Bio-Photonics applications. Her Post-Doctoral research includes work for almost four years (2014-2018) as a Research & Development (R&D) Scientist to develop new methods of lithography in Nanoscribe GmbH (Karlsruhe, Germany) and work (2013-2014) as a Laser Development Engineer during the TwO Photon absorbers for BIOmedical applications (TOPBIO) project in Amplitude Systèmes (Bordeaux, France) funded by a Marie Skłodowska Curie Initial Training Network (ITN).
Dr. Anastasios D. Koulouklidis is a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser – Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (IESL-FORTH). He received his PhD from the Materials Departments of University of Crete in 2016 on the fast-emerging scientific field of terahertz (THz) radiation. He has a long experience on the development of ultra-broadband strong THz sources and his current research interests are focused on the interaction of intense THz fields with matter both in the linear and the non-linear regime. The results of his work have been published in various high-impact peer-reviewed journals (>200 citations, h-index = 7, February 2020) and presented in several major international conferences by various means including invited talks.

Dr. Nikolaos Rekatsinas is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Applied & Computational Mathematics (IACM), FORTH. He received his Ph.D degree in 2018 from the University of Amsterdam. His research interests lie in the advances of adaptivity for the efficient numerical approximation of the solution of partial differential equations, with current activity focusing on the adaptive wavelet methods that converge with the best possible rate in optimal computational complexity.
Chiara Currà is a researcher at the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH)– Hellas working in the field of infectious diseases transmitted by mosquitoes with a special focus on malaria parasite and interaction with its vector Anopheles gambiae. During her B.Sc project, Dr Currà studied the persistence of Anopheles mosquitoes in the Italian territory and the epidemiology of malaria cases in Italy since 1971, when Italy was declared malaria-free country, to nowadays. Dr Currà focused her research in malaria mosquito stages since her PhD studies at the University of Torvergata in Rome and University of Montpellier 2, France. Before to join Siden-Kiamos lab at FORTH in 2013 as Marie Curie fellow, she was a post doc at University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dr Currà is author and co-author of 15 publications in International journals. She collaborates with other groups in Europe (Dr. Ponzi Marta in Rome, Dr. Maria Mota in Lisbon, Prof. Nardini in Milano, Prof. Catherine Braun-Breton in France) and Brazil (Prof. Claudio Marinho and Prof. Celia Garcia) and actively participates to international conferences and workshops.
Odysseas Tsilipakos received the diploma and Ph.D. degrees from the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in 2008 and 2013, respectively. From 2014 to 2015 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with AUTh. Since 2016 he is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL), Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH). His research interests span metasurfaces and metamaterials, plasmonics and nanophotonics, nonlinear optics in resonant and waveguiding structures, graphene and 2D photonic materials, and theoretical and computational electromagnetics. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of The Optical Society (OSA).
Dr Antonia Marazioti, Biologist, Postdoctoral Researcher at FORTH/ICEHT. Master and PhD in Neurosciences in the Department of Medicine, University of Crete. She has gained research experience in national scientific institutions (University of Crete, Athens and Patras and FORTH/ICEHT). Her research interests focus on the fields of Neurosciences, Thoracic Cancer Biology, angiogenesis and immune response during cancer progression and Nanomedicine for effective and targeted drug delivery in the CNS and diseased pleural cavity. In parallel, she has teaching experience in Human Physiology for many academic years (2009-present, University of Patras). She has participated in International and National conferences. She has participated in 4 Conferences as an invited speaker. She has 26 refereed journal papers (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=Marazioti+A) with total citations >680. She has participated in 3 book chapters. She has gained 4 Young Scientist Sponsorships for participation in conferences, 1 Research Award by the Hellenic Association for Molecular Cancer Research and Herakleitos I Research Scholarship for completing PhD
KYRIAKOS FILINTOGLOU received his Diploma in Physics from the Physics Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in 2009 and he completed in 2011 the postgraduate course of Physics of Materials in the same department. Subsequently, he was undertaken his PhD studies entitled “Spectroscopic studies of nanostructures with applications in opto- and microelectronics”, which he successfully completed in 2016. He held a postdoctoral fellow position at the institute of chemical engineering sciences – FORTH (January 2019 – January 2020). He is a postdoctoral fellow at the department of physics of the Aristotle University since February of 2020. His research interest focused in the study of carbon, and semiconducting nanostructures (Transition Metal Dichalcogenides, nitrides semiconductors), mainly by optical techniques both at ambient and extreme conditions (high pressure, low/high temperature, strain, electrochemical doping). Moreover, K. Filintoglou actively participated in four research programs, dealing with graphene, C60 fullerides and semiconducting nitride nanostructures.
