The Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) of the Foundation for research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), in the framework of the project ARCHERS, aimed at reducing or even reversing the brain drain, which is funded by an exclusive donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, is seeking to recruit six postdoctoral fellows.

Job Description These Stavros Niarchos Foundation – FORTH fellows are expected to perform high quality research within one of the research areas, in which FORTH-IESL excels both on the national and the international level (www.iesl.forth.gr). More specifically, the domains of interest in the present project are the preservation of cultural heritage and the science and innovation in the areas of environment, clean energy and health.

Eligibility criteria
 PhD degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering
 Good knowledge of Greek and English language

Desirable qualifications
 Publications in high impact peer-review journals (40%)
 Participation in national and international conferences (20%)
 Quality of the proposed post-doctoral project (20%)
 Ability and motivation to perform independent research (10%)
 Previous post-doctoral research experience (10%)

Start Date: 1rst of April, 2017
Duration of appointment: 12 months (with possibility of extension according to the needs of the project).

Job Description The Ph.D. candidate awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation – FORTH fellowship is expected to perform high-quality research in the area of statistical analysis and characterization of seismic and acoustic time series.

Eligibility criteria

• Basic Degree in Sciences or Engineering
• MSc degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering
• Good knowledge of Greek and English Language

Desirable qualifications
• Good background in Applied Mathematics (30 %)
• Experience in Statistical Signal Processing and Analysis (35 %)
• Publication record in related fields (35 %)

Job Description The Ph.D. candidate awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation – FORTH fellowship is expected to perform high-quality research in the area of numerical modelling of coastal processes, with applications focused on the Cretan coastal zone, using modern coastal hydrodynamic and morphodynamic models, in combination with the use of field data.

Eligibility criteria
• MSc degree in Mathematics
• BSc degree in Mathematics
• Excellent knowledge of Greek and English Language
• Ongoing PhD candidate in relevant topic

Desirable qualifications
• Experience in numerical modelling of coastal processes (30 %)
• Experience in on-site coastal data collection, archiving and processing (25 %)
• Experience in statistical analysis of meteorological and coastal-related time-series data using SPSS and MATLAB (25 %)
• Previous participation on related research projects (20%)

Job Description Project administration and management, press release and newsletter editing and workshop organization of the project ARCHERS. The ideal candidate should have good scientific qualifications in order to successfully follow the progress of the project, proven organizational skills and experience in workshop/conference organization and scientific project management

Required qualifications
 BSc degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science) (20%)
 MSc degree in Physical Sciences (20%)
 PhD degree in Physical Sciences (20%)
 Post-doctoral experience for at least 3 years (30%)
