Dr. Christos Aggelopoulos is a Research Associate at FORTH/ICE-HT. He is a physicist by training with an MSc Diploma in Physics (Environmental Sciences) from the University of Patras (2004), and his PhD Diploma on transport properties in soils from the same University (2007). He was Post-Doctoral Fellow and Research Associate at FORTH/ICE-HT (2008, 2010-2012), Institut Francais du Petrole-IFP, France (2009-2010), Université Pierre et Marie Curie – Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris, France (2012-2014). His research activities are focused on (i) multiphase flow and transport phenomena in porous media with application to liquid pollutants spreading in subsurface, (ii) remediation of polluted soil/groundwater/wastewater by advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), and (iii) carbon dioxide storage in depleted oil/gas reservoirs and deep saline aquifers. He has participated in 12 R&D projects funded by the EU and the General Secretariat for Research and Technology. He was the Principal Investigator (PI) of the research project SOIL-PLASMA, which was among the eight cited as most-promising projects in the 2013 ESPA report. He has been awarded the 2nd Prize in the category “Applied Research” of the 3rd “Greece Innovates!” Applied Research & Innovation Competition, a joint initiative of Eurobank and SEV (Hellenic Federation of Enterprises). He has published 28 articles (8 as corresponding author, 1 monograph) in refereed Scientific Journals, 1 Patent and about 50 papers in international and national conference proceedings.


Dr. Spyros Tzokas is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at the Institute for Mediterranean Studies/FORTH for the Project ARCHERS: Advancing Young Researchers’ Human Capital in Cutting Edge Technologies in the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and the Tackling of Societal Challenges, is funded by Stavros Niarchos Foundation. The research addresses the Policies of Protection of Industrial Property in Greece during the 20th century. He received his Ph.D degree in History and Philosophy of Science and Technology, from the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Department of Humanities Social Sciences & Law, School of Applied Mathematical & Physical Sciences, National Technical University of Athens in 2011 and his dissertation is entitled On the social construction of the technical objectivity: The formative period of Greek engineering, late 19th – early 20th century. His research lies in the fields of History and Sociology of Science & Technology (HSST), Science-Technology-Society/Studies (STS) connecting with the following subject areas: Engineering Studies, Expertise Studies, Material Culture Studies, Economic and Social History, Labour History, History of Industrialization & Innovation, Borders-Migration-Technology Studies, Digital Humanities, Industrial Archaeology, Environmental Studies and Critical Studies of Science & Technology. In his work, the comparative and cross – (trans)national historical and historiographical aspects of Science & Technology are linked with the Economic, Social and Cultural issues, cutting across the Greek, Mediterranean and the European regional characteristics and particularities (19th–20th centuries).

 


Η Δρ. Ελένη Κυραμαργιού είναι μεταδιδακτορική ερευνήτρια στο Ινστιτούτο Μεσογειακών Σπουδών του Ιδρύματος Τεχνολογίας και Έρευνας.

Έλαβε το διδακτορικό της από το Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου του 2015. Στη συνέχεια εργάστηκε ως επιστημονική συνεργάτης στο Ινστιτούτο Ιστορικών Ερευνών του Εθνικού Ιδρύματος Ερευνών.

Η ερευνά της εστιάζει στους κοινωνικούς και οικονομικούς μετασχηματισμούς αλλά και στην οικιστική συγκρότηση της ευρύτερης περιοχής του Πειραιά.


Dr. Eleni Kyramargiou is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at the Institute for Mediterranean Studies/Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (IMS/FORTH).

She received her Ph.D  from the University of the Aegean in 2015 and from 2016-2017 she was a Research Associate at the Institute of Historical Research / National Hellenic Research Foundation (IHR / NHRF).

Her work focuses on the social, economic and spatial transformations of the broader area of Piraeus.

 


Mr George Gassias is a PhD candidate at the department of History an Archeology of University of Crete. He received his Bachelor Degree from the University of Athens in 2000 and his Master Degree from the University of Crete in Contemporary Greek and European History. His research focuses on agrarian reform and the rural transformations in Greece in the


Ms. Evangelia Vasilaki is a Ph.D candidate at the Chemistry Department of the University of Crete. She received her Bachelor degree from the University of Piraeus in 2010 and her Master degree in Chemistry from the University of Crete. She studies the synthesis and modification of metal oxides for photocatalytic applications. She has published 5 articles in international peer-reviewed journals with 57 citations.


Dr. Sotirios Psilodimitrakopoulos is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at IESL-FORTH with specialty in Multiphoton-Microscopy. He received his Ph.D degree from the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), Barcelona, Spain in 2012 and he continued as a Post-Doctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Optics & Biosciences (LOB), at Ecole Polytechnique, Paris France.  His research focuses on developing novel measurements and instrumentation for non-linear microscopy.


Dr. Ioanna Sakellari is a postdoctoral researcher at FORTH. In 2011, she obtained her PhD in Physics from the University of Crete and, soon after, she moved as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley. In 2013, she joined the 4th Physics Institute at the University of Stuttgart, where in 2015 she was awarded a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship. Her research interests cover a wide range of scientific areas including Nanotechnology, Photonics, Metamaterials, and Materials Science.


Dr. Fasoulakis Michail is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at ICS-FORTH. He received his Ph.D degree from the University of Warwick, UK in 2017. His research focuses on (algorithmic) game theory and economics, algorithms, information theory, decision theory, operations research, communications and signal processing.


Ms. Meropi Manataki is a 4th year Ph.D candidate at Technical University of Crete. She received her Diploma degree in 2011 and her Master degree from the Technical University of Crete in Geotechnology and the Environment, Dept. of Mineral Resources Engineering. Her research focuses on applied geophysics, GPR data processing and modelling and archaeological prospection.
