Dr. Petra Bacova is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at IACM-FORTH, involved in a project focused on nanostructured materials with application in energy. She received her Ph.D degree from the University of the Basque Country in 2014 under the framework of Marie Curie ITN Dynacop. She worked as a Post-Doctoral fellow at FORTH in Crete and Materials Physics Center in San Sebastian. Her research interests include simulations of all types of polymeric materials.


Mr. Costas Smaragdakis is a 6th year Ph.D candidate at Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics of University of Crete. He received his Bachelor degree from the University of Crete in 2005 and his Master degree from the same university in 2008. His research focuses on in inverse problems of underwater acoustics using statistical features of the acoustic field.


Dr. Panos Sapountzis is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at the Inst. of Applied & Computational Mathematics. He received his Ph.D from the University of Nottingham in 2010. His research focuses on the study of neural mechanisms and interactions during visual attention. Moreover, he is interested in examining the neural code at the population level using signal processing and machine learning approaches.


Dr. Nikolaos Psonis is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at the Ancient DNA Lab (IMBB-ITE). He received his Ph.D degree in Biology from the University of Crete in 2017. His research focuses on Evolutionary Biology and more precisely on Molecular Phylogeny, Phylogeography and Population Genetics, as well as on Paleogenomics.


Dr. Konstantina Psatha is a biology major postdoctoral researcher in the group of Functional Proteomics & Systems Biology of Dr. M. Aivaliotis at IMBB-FORTH. She received her Ph.D from the Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Athens (NKUA) in 2015. She has a background on systems biology approaches, combining biochemistry, molecular biology and omics strategies, investigating the molecular basis of haematologic malignancies & human diseases, using mouse models, cell lines and biological fluids. She has published peer-reviewed articles, participated in many national and international conferences, and has been awarded several fellowships and prizes (Heraklitus II, IKY-Siemens, EuPA Young Researcher, HSBMB) for her work on integrating omics analyses for the assessment of the multilayered & dynamic regulation of human diseases.


Dr. Vassilis Papadakis is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, FORTH. He received his Ph.D degree from the Medical School of the University of Crete in 2003 and he continued as a Post-Doctoral fellow at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, the Technical University of Delft, Netherlands. His research focuses on the study of the biomolecular characteristics of cells, tissues, and biomaterials through novel imaging and spectroscopic methods.


Mr. Grigorios Kounadis is a 5th year Ph.D candidate at the University of Athens. He received his Bachelor degree in Mathematics from the University of Athens in 2006 and his Master degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Athens. His research focuses on the analysis and approximation of nonlinear water wave equations.


Dr. Eugene Skouras is a Post-Doctoral research fellow at FORTH/ICE-HT. He received his Ph.D degree from the University of Patras in 2000 and he continued as a Post-Doctoral fellow at FORTH/ICE-HT. His research focuses on simulation and optimization studies of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, and sorption phenomena in porous media across atomistic, meso­scopic and macroscopic scales.


Mr. Papadakis Ioannis is a 1st year Ph.D candidate at Physics Departments at the University of Patras. He received his Bachelor degree from the University of Patras in 2015 and his Master degree from the University of Patras in Photonics – Lasers. His Master thesis is titled: “Nonlinear optical response of graphene and graphene derivatives”. His research focuses on the nonlinear optical response of graphenes, nanoribbons and other carbon based nanomaterials.


Ms. Mystiridou Emmanouela is a 1st year Ph.D candidate at Department of Materials Science, University of Patras. She received her Bachelor degree from the University of Patras in 2013 and her Master degree in “Hybrid graphene materials with functional polymers” in 2016. Her research focuses on biomaterials science with emphasis on calcium phosphate bone cements and calcium alginate hydrogels.
